In God will I praise his word: in the LORD will I praise his word.
Psalm 56 is David's song of gratitude to God for personal deliverance from his enemies. The verse belongs to a prophetic prayer prayed by Jesus centuries after it was written, applying secondarily to David and his trials. Through His Spirit inspiring the psalmist God brings the experience of Christ into the Psalms, giving in this verse one of the blessed lessons appointed to meet every circumstance of life for the encouragement of His faithful children.
