Thou tellest my wanderings: put thou my tears into thy bottle: are they not in thy book?
The verse reveals how great the watchfulness of God is, for He keeps count of a person's wanderings and faithfully preserves tears in His bottle and book, knowing and remembering affliction in detail. That keeping includes tears, suffering and sorrow, all faithfully preserved in His book. The book is the heavenly book of remembrance, where the wanderings, tears, suffering and sorrow of the faithful are recorded. There every sacrifice, suffering and sorrow endured for Christ's sake is faithfully preserved and remembered.
None of the suffering of God's servants is forgotten, for their privations, tears and every pang of agony they endure are kept on record. God sees and records the suffering and tears of the oppressed, putting the tears of the suffering in His bottle in heaven and writing them in His book. The tears of enslaved people are kept in heaven, including those of pious bondmen and bondwomen, of fathers, mothers and children, of brothers and sisters, and of families, and their agony is written in God's book. Angels record it all.
All heaven beholds with indignation human beings reduced to degradation and placed on a level with brutes, and the dealing in slaves and souls of men. God will restrain His anger only a little longer, and His anger burns against the nation and especially against the religious bodies who have sanctioned and engaged in this terrible merchandise. This record of the suffering of the oppressed bears witness against those who inflict or sanction their oppression. In the same way every tear brought to a widowed mother's eye and every sorrow brought to her heart by a disobedient, rebellious son is registered in heaven, and that registration is his record by which his course toward her will be judged.
God keeps every tear because He cares for His suffering child, knowing each person's troubles so that no grief, burden or tear escapes His care. He loves more deeply than any human can love, comforts with His grace and His presence, holds all that is needed, and directs the life in love, so that present, future and eternal interests are safest in His hands. The verse therefore calls the afflicted to leave worry and rest in His care. God sees those who are tempted and tenderly sympathizes with them, hearing every voice of supplication and distress so that not a groan, not a tear, not a sigh escapes His notice. Because Christ came to this world to work out the plan of redemption on man's behalf and to show him how to overcome the temptations of the enemy, God will not withhold from His children anything that will perfect their characters.
