The Wise Man Stands on the Rock in the Stormby emmanuel_higgins

Psalms 62:2

He only is my rock and my salvation; he is my defence; I shall not be greatly moved.

He alone stands as the believer's rock and salvation and defense, the sole ground of firmness and security. To rest upon him is to be established so as not to be greatly moved, because stability comes from him and not from any other support. His exclusive place in the life leaves no rival confidence, since safety is found in him only.

That exclusive trust is a call to rely upon him and to abide in the Saviour with steady dependence. Such abiding is preparation for the life Christ has promised, linking present reliance to future hope. The one who remains in him is thus made ready for what has been promised, with present firmness leading toward promised life.
