Psalms 62:4
They only consult to cast him down from his excellency: they delight in lies: they bless with their mouth, but they curse inwardly. Selah. They only consult to cast him down from his excellency: they delight in lies: they bless with their mouth, but they curse inwardly. Selah.
The psalm that contains this verse is commended for its important lessons and is worthy of study. Its counsel bears especially on church leaders, calling them to be humble and Spirit-filled and not to continue indefinitely in board service. The setting of the verse sets forth the Lord's regard for the humble in contrast with His scattering of the proud. To cast down from excellency, to delight in lies, and to bless with the mouth while cursing inwardly belongs to the way of pride that He disperses, while humility is the way He honors.
