Psalms 65:8

They also that dwell in the uttermost parts are afraid at thy tokens: thou makest the outgoings of the morning and evening to rejoice.

God Himself makes the outgoings of the morning and evening to rejoice, turning the daily beginnings into occasions of joy by His ordering of nature. This daily ordering displays His rule over the natural world. The regular course of nature is thus a cause for rejoicing in His goodness. Israel praised Him for these daily mercies as an expression of its complete dependence on Him.

By making morning and evening rejoice, the verse proves He is a living, personal, self-existing God and not an impersonal perfume-like influence or intangible abstraction, who acts directly in nature. He exercises this direct action through Jesus Christ, through whom He created man and endowed him with intelligence and power. The same direct personal action includes thundering in the heavens, reaching to the ends of the earth with His voice, and holding the winds in His hands. It includes sending lightning with rain, shaking the earth with His look, and making the hills smoke with His touch. It includes melting the mountains before Him, and causing His sun to rise on the evil and on the good.
