Psalms 66:1

Make a joyful noise unto God, all ye lands:

The call goes out to all lands to employ tongue and voice in a loud, joyful sound of praise and thanksgiving to God. That praise is to be united, offered in the midst of the congregation by singing forth the honor of His name and making His praise glorious. It is song to Him as the God of nature, to be sung aloud with the voice. It declares what He has done for the soul, telling how crying to Him with the mouth was met with answered prayer and mercy not withheld, and it brings good things out of the treasure of a heart enjoying His love by rendering to Him the spoken fruit of the lips.

Lifting that joyful sound means training the voice to raise to God the melody of spiritual joy and encouragement. In childhood and youth Jesus often sang this verse together with the following verses through verse 5 while looking upon rocks and hills, sun, moon and stars, welcoming the morning light with singing and joining His voice with the lark singing to God, and by singing it He taught others. For workers in sanitariums, where people living without recognition of God come for relief from bodily infirmities, obeying the command is part of being bright and shining lights and Christ's helping hand, as true Christians skilled in care of soul as well as body, revealing pure and undefiled religion in word and deed to shine the light of God's Word on darkened minds and draw men to the cross.
