Psalms 66:8

O bless our God, ye people, and make the voice of his praise to be heard:

The tongue is to be employed to bless God and to cause the voice of His praise to be heard by declaring what He has done for the soul. This calling makes audible praise the proper use of speech, turning personal experience of divine action into open testimony.

Those who enjoy the love of God in their hearts will have something to say, bringing forth good things from the treasure stored within. From that inward fullness they render to God the fruit of the lips in words of praise and thanksgiving. Such blessing is heard when iniquity is not regarded in the heart. It is offered from a broken spirit and a broken and contrite heart, which God will not despise.
