Psalms 67:5

Let the people praise thee, O God; let all the people praise thee.

The verse is a call for all peoples, for all people in every nation, to praise God. It expresses the worldwide reach of his invitation and the praise due to him from every nation. The praise it calls for is a worldwide response to his blessing, to the making known of his way and his saving power among the nations, and to his righteous judgment and rule.

In connection with Israel's deliverance at the Red Sea, it expresses the praise due to God for his power and saving acts. The praise is a shared act of worship, like the congregation's joyful Amen response when his word was spoken and when the ark was brought into David's city.

The praise is to be offered with heart and soul and voice. It is to be expressed in words, for those who enjoy his love in their hearts have something to say and offer him words of praise and thanksgiving. It is a fitting song to learn in this life in preparation for joining the angels and sharing in heaven's song of praise.
