Thy congregation hath dwelt therein: thou, O God, hast prepared of thy goodness for the poor.
God in His goodness has prepared provision for the poor. He hears the prayers of the needy and answers them through the means He entrusts to others. His gifts, as seen in the rich man's abundant harvest, are committed to men not for themselves alone but as a stewardship for the wealthy, that they might feed the hungry, clothe the naked and needy, help the suffering and distressed, and care for those unable to repay. To hoard that abundance for one's own comfort withholds from the poor the very help supplied for them. This provision belongs with the common people gladly hearing Christ and with the great company who proclaim His word.
