Let their eyes be darkened, that they see not; and make their loins continually to shake.
The darkened eyes are a judgment pronounced upon those who reject God, leaving them unable to see. When applied to Israel, this blindness is only partial and is not final. Through unbelief some branches were broken off and salvation came to the Gentiles, yet Israel may still turn away from unbelief and be grafted in again. This gives no ground for despising the Jews, for many among them may yet receive the truth and proclaim it.
