Psalms 7:6

Arise, O LORD, in thine anger, lift up thyself because of the rage of mine enemies: and awake for me to the judgment that thou hast commanded.

The verse is a plea lifted to God alone for hope and deliverance when enemies rage against the sufferer. To rewrite that cry so that it is addressed to Mary moves to her the very trust and appeal for help that belongs to God in the psalm. Such an alteration therefore does not merely change a name but transfers divine prerogative, placing in a human figure the confidence for rescue that the verse directs to the Lord.
