Psalms 7:8
The LORD shall judge the people: judge me, O LORD, according to my righteousness, and according to mine integrity that is in me. The LORD shall judge the people: judge me, O LORD, according to my righteousness, and according to mine integrity that is in me.
Psalm 7:8 belongs to the first book of the Psalms, Psalms 1 to 41, and within that to the opening group, Psalms 1 to 11. It is part of David's prayers and assurances as a tried soul, coming in study after the checkered career of Jacob. Like many of the Psalms, it begins with a sense of great need and ends with triumph and confidence in God.
It is precious for human experience, helping the soul in discouragement, strengthening in time of trial, giving solid comfort in grief, pointing out the dangers of sin and warning against transgression, and pointing to a God who is able and willing and eager to save. It shows the freedom that follows confession and forgiveness, where when all sin is confessed to God and faults are confessed to those wronged, God forgives and cleanses from all unrighteousness. Then the soul escapes like a freed bird from a broken trap, free as if it had not sinned, with no condemnation and with sin having no dominion. This is because Christ is Master, and His rule means liberty, life, and peace.
