Psalms 72:10

The kings of Tarshish and of the isles shall bring presents: the kings of Sheba and Seba shall offer gifts.

The verse describes the worldwide honor that belongs to a righteous reign, when rulers from far-off lands acknowledge the king with presents and tribute. The kings of Tarshish and of the isles bring presents, and the kings of Sheba and Seba offer gifts, showing the glory and worldwide reach of rule in righteousness. Within Psalm 72:8-15 this forms part of a prayer for the nations, in which David leads the church's intercession for the salvation of souls to the ends of the earth.

It is an inspired prophecy of righteous rule and broad dominion, setting forth the ideal Solomon's reign might have reflected and fulfilled had he followed divine instruction. What might have been his through obedience was a reign of righteousness honored by distant kings bringing tribute and gifts.

Instead his pursuit of political power and wealth, and his alliances with heathen nations, compromised that promise. The later acquisition of silver from Tarshish and gold from Ophir came at the cost of integrity and sacred trust.
