Psalms 72:15
And he shall live, and to him shall be given of the gold of Sheba: prayer also shall be made for him continually; and daily shall he be praised. And he shall live, and to him shall be given of the gold of Sheba: prayer also shall be made for him continually; and daily shall he be praised.
Psalm 72:15 is part of an inspired prophecy picturing the righteous reign Solomon could have had in obedience to God's instruction given through his father. It portrays the king living on and receiving the gold of Sheba as tribute, with prayer made for him continually and praise and blessing given him daily and all day long. That reign is marked by just rule, reverence for God, and mercy toward the people that delivers the poor and needy, redeems them from oppression and violence, and treats their blood as precious in his sight.
In its wider context of verses 8-15, the passage presents David leading the church's intercession for the salvation of souls throughout the earth, with prayer and praise extending continually and daily. Solomon at first followed this wise counsel of David and brought glory to God. But his later pursuit of political power and self-aggrandizement, his alliances with heathen nations, and his eventual idolatry meant his life did not remain in harmony with the prophecy.
