Psalms 75:8
For in the hand of the LORD there is a cup, and the wine is red; it is full of mixture; and he poureth out of the same: but the dregs thereof, all the wicked of the earth shall wring them out, and drink them. For in the hand of the LORD there is a cup, and the wine is red; it is full of mixture; and he poureth out of the same: but the dregs thereof, all the wicked of the earth shall wring them out, and drink them.
The cup in the hand of the Lord holds His anger, fury and wrath, full and mixed, which He pours out for all the wicked of the earth to wring out and drink to the dregs. The destruction of Jerusalem was the first draught from that cup, and at the final judgment the nation will drain it to the dregs. Babylon is made to drink the dregs of that cup and is repaid double for her deeds.
The verse applies to judgment on those who enslave and cruelly oppress others. God's anger over slavery will not cease until the land of light drinks the dregs of His fury, because the cries, suffering and agonizing cruelty inflicted day by day by professed Christians who hold their fellow men in slavery, sever the ties of nature and oppress them have reached unto heaven, with their names recorded in blood, stripes and burning tears. That inhumanity compares with the cruelty of papists and heathen toward Christ's followers, and in the day of the execution of God's judgment it will be more tolerable for heathen and papists than for such oppressors.
