Moses and Aaron Lead Israel Through the Seaby emmanuel_higgins

Psalms 77:17

The clouds poured out water: the skies sent out a sound: thine arrows also went abroad.

The verse describes the storm that accompanied God's intervention at the Red Sea against the Egyptians as they pursued Israel into the sea. The pouring clouds are rain pouring down, the sound sent out by the skies is thunder sounding, and the arrows going abroad are lightning flashing forth like arrows. With this storm the earth trembled and shook.

These signs came as the mysterious cloud stood as a pillar of fire before the Egyptians and troubled their army. The thunder and lightning displayed God's anger and power. They filled the Egyptians with confusion, terror and fear as they tried to flee. The storm helped bring about the Egyptians' destruction in the sea.
