Moses and Aaron Lead Israel Through the Seaby emmanuel_higgins

Psalms 77:18

The voice of thy thunder was in the heaven: the lightnings lightened the world: the earth trembled and shook.

The verse describes God's intervention against the Egyptian army as they pursued Israel through the Red Sea. Thunder was in heaven, lightning lightened the world, and the earth trembled and shook as a storm accompanying that intervention. The thunder and lightning came with the pillar of fire and cloud, as God sent the elements against the Egyptians.

The storm displayed God's power, and its signs expressed His anger. It threw the pursuing Egyptian army into confusion, striking them with dismay and filling them with fear. In their confusion they tried to flee and were turned back, as God delivered Israel and overwhelmed their pursuers.
