Psalms 78:60

So that he forsook the tabernacle of Shiloh, the tent which he placed among men;

Psalm 78 recounts the rich blessings God bestowed on His people and their poor return for all His benefits. The verse shows Israel constantly working against a good God. God's forsaking of the tabernacle was the sure result brought on by their own disobedient course, in turning from God to idolatry after repeatedly testing Him.

God forsook the tabernacle at Shiloh, the sanctuary He had established among them. This abandonment was part of His judgment on Israel's unfaithfulness during the time of the judges, when He withdrew His protection. He gave His people, their strength and glory, into the power of their enemies and to the sword.

He did not utterly abandon them, for a faithful remnant remained, and He repeatedly raised up deliverers for them. Under rebuke and chastisement they repented, but under temptation they fell again through self-indulgence and self-gratification.
