Psalms 79:7

For they have devoured Jacob, and laid waste his dwelling place.

The verse portrays Jacob's people as devoured and their dwelling place made desolate. That devastation belongs to the captivity, when Jerusalem was brought low and its people were scattered. It stands among the psalms that depict the condition of the Jewish captives in Babylon, voicing sorrow over their desolation and longing for deliverance.
