Psalms 79:8

O remember not against us former iniquities: let thy tender mercies speedily prevent us: for we are brought very low.

Psalm 79 belongs to the period during or after Israel's captivity in Babylon. It portrays the captives' sorrow and desolation, with Jerusalem brought low and its people scattered. In that brought-very-low condition the plea is that former iniquities would not be remembered against them. It asks that tender mercies would speedily come to meet and help them. The psalm is a longing prayer for deliverance, filled with thoughts of God's mercy and power to save.
