Psalms 81:14

I should soon have subdued their enemies, and turned my hand against their adversaries.

Psalm 81 traces Israel's scattering to forgetting God and failing to heed Him, and this promise belongs to that explanation of the consequences of their failure. It is God's conditional word that if Israel had heeded and listened to Him and walked in His ways and obeyed His commandments, He would soon and quickly have subdued their enemies and turned His hand and power against their adversaries. Victory over opposition was thus a blessing God stood ready to give His obedient people.

The same promised blessing included feeding them with the finest wheat and honey from the rock and giving them assurance that they could depend on His love. Israel was to remember these words and teach them to their children through song.
