Psalms 81:16

He should have fed them also with the finest of the wheat: and with honey out of the rock should I have satisfied thee.

Psalm 81 traces the scattering of Israel to their forgetting God. Their history is set forth in that psalm as a warning and lesson to later generations who likewise forget Him.

The verse voices God's longing for Israel to listen to Him and walk in His ways. That listening and walking meant keeping His commandments and diligently teaching them to their children. Had they obeyed in this way, He would have subdued their enemies.

He would then have abundantly provided for His obedient people and satisfied them with the finest wheat and honey from the rock. Connected with this abundance, He also promised long life and to show them His salvation. He would have fed them from the tree of life, showing they could rest in the Saviour's love and depend on Him.
