Psalms 81:4

For this was a statute for Israel, and a law of the God of Jacob.

The commanded observance is a statute for Israel and a law of the God of Jacob. It is the observance described in the preceding verses. The psalm explains that Israel was scattered because the people forgot God.

God's law is not abolished. His requirements give parents a guide for teaching children obedience to His precepts. The lesson of the psalm is a warning to the churches today, especially to those that forget God. The warning calls them to heed God and to study His word.
