Psalms 81:7

Thou calledst in trouble, and I delivered thee; I answered thee in the secret place of thunder: I proved thee at the waters of Meribah. Selah.

The eighty-first psalm to which this verse belongs explains that Israel was scattered because the people forgot God. That forgetting meant they failed to acknowledge Him even though He had loaded them with blessings. The same forgetting of God that scattered Israel is repeated by the churches of the present day. Their history stands as a warning to later generations to heed God and to study His Word.
