Psalms 86:17

The tokens for good are evidences and present proofs of heavenly blessing and of God's care in helping, comforting, and mercifully delivering His people. Being spared from death and danger is such a token. The work God has done and the reforms He has brought about are such tokens. The changing of a discouraging current, the Lord at work for His ministers, their return to their fields of labor with much light and deeper experience and more courage in the Lord, and the great value of His blessing are such tokens.
Remembering these signs encourages trust in God through trial and sacrifice instead of unbelief and discouragement. These tokens call for gratitude instead of murmuring against God. Where there was fear of going forward in depression and discouragement, these tokens lift the heart, with assurance that the Lord will continue His work until He brings His people to where they praise His holy name.
