Psalms 88:14

LORD, why castest thou off my soul? why hidest thou thy face from me?

The verse gives voice to anguish over a felt rejection by God. It pleads for the reason the soul has been cast off. It pleads for the reason the divine face is hidden. It stands as an instance of the psalms pouring the soul out to God in prayer.
