Psalms 88:9
Mine eye mourneth by reason of affliction: LORD, I have called daily upon thee, I have stretched out my hands unto thee. Mine eye mourneth by reason of affliction: LORD, I have called daily upon thee, I have stretched out my hands unto thee.
The verse depicts a sufferer weighed down by affliction, whose eye mourns because of it, yet who continues to cry out to God and to stretch out the hands in prayer. The calling is daily, showing that prayer is not occasional but persistent through ongoing distress. The outstretched hands express active, dependent pleading maintained amid severe suffering rather than given up.
