Psalms 89:1

I will sing of the mercies of the LORD for ever: with my mouth will I make known thy faithfulness to all generations.

The eighty-ninth psalm preserves a record of the rich blessings bestowed upon the Lord's people. Its theme places those divine benefits side by side with the meager return made by those who received them. The contrast between generous mercy and poor human response gives the setting in which the vow to sing of mercy forever is made.
