Psalms 9:12

When he maketh inquisition for blood, he remembereth them: he forgetteth not the cry of the humble.

When God makes inquisition for bloodshed, He remembers the humble sufferers and hears and does not forget their cry. This remembrance belongs to His righteous judgment in Christ's reign in Zion, where He is a refuge for the oppressed and brings the wicked to account. The verse points to the day when He calls heaven and earth to judgment, when every thought and word and motive will be revealed as registered in the books of heaven and every soul will be tried by the one perfect standard of His law. Its inquisition for blood includes requiring the blood of souls from undershepherds when they gather with their flocks around the great white throne to answer for the eternal standing of those they were associated with and influenced. Therefore those entrusted with souls must do well the work committed to them so that they swell the glad chorus.
