Psalms 91:14
Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name. Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name.
Because a person has set love upon God and has known His name, God will deliver and rescue that person and will set him on high, exalting and honoring him and lifting him to safety. Those delivered are His commandment-keeping people standing under His protection. They are the humble and faithful who choose Him as Redeemer and abide under His protection, trusting Him as refuge and fortress.
The psalm describes the Lord's coming to end wickedness and assures those who choose and trust Him as Redeemer of His love, protection, and salvation when His judgments end the wickedness of the wicked. In that time the humble and faithful will triumph under the protection of His covenant and the righteous will rejoice in His everlasting care. His presence with them is their assurance and includes every other blessing.
When God destroys the wicked from off the earth, the righteous will be preserved alive in the midst of the commotions as Noah was preserved in the ark, with God as their refuge and covering under His wings where no evil reaches them, hidden in His pavilion in time of trouble. The promise applies to the righteous who will be preserved while the earth is convulsed by destruction in earthquakes and eruptions, as Noah was preserved in the ark, with God as their refuge. Behind the promise, God with all heaven is pledged to work for the help and strengthening of His people, waiting to bestow power to be their strength and their front guard and rearward. Its words are to be read and believed and held onto without discouragement in perplexities and trials, trusting in God and not in man nor in the arm of flesh, because the Lord is full of compassion and gracious, longsuffering, and plenteous in mercy and truth.
