Psalms 92:10

But my horn shalt thou exalt like the horn of an unicorn: I shall be anointed with fresh oil.

The psalm to which this verse belongs is marked by its title as a song for the Sabbath day. The horn is a symbol of power, picturing God lifting up the speaker's horn like that of a strong animal to strengthen, exalt and honor him and his people. Being anointed with fresh oil means God will anoint and refresh his people. The Sabbath day of the psalm is a day of rest and refreshment for rejoicing and praising the Lord.

The psalm proves that the Sabbath required a spiritual service and not outward rest only. It expresses the lofty devotion possible in the pre-Gospel age and reflects the religious understanding and worship associated with the Jewish Sabbath. The psalm, including this verse, is an injunction and promise given to one day only, the seventh day, calling for worship on that day, with no application in any way to the first day of the week.

Through Jesus Christ the saints will finally conquer: at Christ's appearing the resurrected and living righteous will meet him, enter the Father's mansions, and reign with Christ as kings and priests for a thousand years, judging the world and fallen angels. The psalm's promise that the righteous will flourish like palms and cedars points to the beauty and continued growth of the immortal saints in the new-earth state, where they will flourish and worship God through eternity. In rewarding the righteous and punishing the wicked, the Lord shows that he is upright, the rock and support of his obedient people, with no unrighteousness in him.
