Earth Held in Open Hands in SpaceBible World

Psalms 95:5

The sea is his, and he made it: and his hands formed the dry land.

The sea is His because He made it, and the dry land was formed by His hands, so ownership rests on creation. As Maker of all He is to be worshiped and approached with bowing and kneeling, and His people belong to Him as the sheep of His pasture who should come before Him with thanksgiving and praise. The Maker and owner of the sea is Christ, and the sea is part of the created world shaped by His hand whose beauty declares the Father's love.

In its setting this stands within a call to sing joyfully to the Rock of salvation, to come before Him with thanksgiving and psalms, to honor Him as the great God and great King above all gods who holds the deep places of the earth and the strength of the hills, and to bow and kneel before Him as Maker. Creation in this way displays His greatness and creative power and establishes Him as Creator and rightful object of worship. This creation call to worship is for God's people today, and the Sabbath keeps this truth before people as a memorial of creation and a sign of loyalty to Him. The living God's hand also holds the streams, fountains, hills, and valleys, and He controls the elements of nature, so the gifts of dew and rain come from Him and not from Baal and Ashtoreth as Israel wrongly credited.
