Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name: bring an offering, and come into his courts.
The call is to give to the Lord the honor and glory that belong to His name, to bring an offering, and to come into His courts. That glory is owed to Him because He is great and greatly to be praised and to be feared above all gods. As Creator He is justly entitled to reverence, honor, love, and worship from humans as His creatures, the work of His hands.
The worship called for mirrors that of the sinless angels surrounding His throne, who bow down and adore Him praising His name. Giving Him this glory means honoring Him with praise and thanksgiving. Every true follower of Jesus shows supreme love to God by giving Him this glory.
Giving this glory is proved only by obedience, by seeking to honor and glorify Him and finding highest happiness in doing His will, so any failure to render willing obedience shows that love for Him is false. The honor must be sincere, arising from inner truth rather than self-complacency or self-righteousness, because God searches the heart and knows every thought, purpose, and motive. The call applies to making selfish interest subordinate.
