Psalms 97:5

The hills melted like wax at the presence of the LORD, at the presence of the Lord of the whole earth.

At the Lord's presence the hills and mountains melt like wax, showing His absolute power over the natural world. This proves He is a living and personal God whose voice and power still act in creation. He is self-existing, not a perfume or something intangible. Nature itself is not God; it only displays His power.

Through Jesus Christ He created man and endowed him with intelligence and power. He continues to act personally in nature, thundering in the heavens with a voice reaching to the ends of the earth, holding the winds in His hands, and sending lightnings with rain. He looks on the earth till it trembles and touches the hills till they smoke. He makes the outgoings of the morning and evening to rejoice, and makes His sun to rise on the evil and on the good.
