Revelation 10:7
But in the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he shall begin to sound, the mystery of God should be finished, as he hath declared to his servants the prophets. But in the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he shall begin to sound, the mystery of God should be finished, as he hath declared to his servants the prophets.
The mighty Angel standing with His right foot on the sea and His left on the dry land is Jesus Christ, and that posture denotes His supreme power and authority over the whole earth in the closing scenes of the great controversy with Satan. The controversy then waxes stronger to its height, when Satan united with evil men deceives the world and the churches that receive not the love of the truth. His stance with one foot on the sea and the other on the land shows that the message of the time of the coming of the Lord will be proclaimed in wide extent, crossing the broad waters to other countries, across sea and land to all the world.
The oath that time should be no longer means the end of prophetic time which should precede the advent of the Lord, not the end of this world's history nor of probationary time. That prophetic time reaches from 1842 to the autumn of 1844, after which the people will have no other message upon definite time and there can be no definite tracing of prophetic time. Daniel and Revelation are one, one a sealed prophecy and the other an opened revelation. The finishing of the mystery comes when Daniel's sealed prophecies are unsealed as the message in relation to time and given their proper place in the first, second, and third angels' messages.
The mysteries uttered in the seven thunders were a special delineation of events to transpire under the first and second angels' messages. That light was commanded not to be written because it was not best for the people to know it, for their faith must be tested. In God's order no further light was to be revealed before the first and second angels' messages had done their specific work, with those future events to be disclosed in their order and Daniel standing in his lot at the end of the days. The eating of the little book means the comprehension of truth and the glad reception of the message, the precious truth about the time of the advent of the Lord to the soul.
The finishing of the mystery is a coming completion of the great work for these last days, soon to be finished, to look forward to with joy. It comes while everything that can be shaken is shaken and God tests and proves His people while angels watch the development of character and weigh moral worth. Endurance to reach it comes by looking above daily turmoil and fixing the eyes on Him who never changes, enduring as seeing Him who is invisible.
