Revelation 11:13

And the same hour was there a great earthquake, and the tenth part of the city fell, and in the earthquake were slain of men seven thousand: and the remnant were affrighted, and gave glory to the God of heaven.

The verse foretells things yet to take place in the cities. In the same hour there will be a great earthquake that throws down a tenth part of the city and slays men, as a wonderful display of the power of God on account of the sins of the city. This display is sent as His rebuke and calamity upon men who have abused their privileges and taken advantage of their fellow men.

The destruction is a call to all to hear the voice of God and to give heed to His special warnings and indications, and it must not be ignored or made light of or treated lightly. It calls the guilty men who have done such wrong to make amends for the wrong they have done. Those who have felt this rebuke must not flatter themselves that they will build still greater buildings, nor defiantly invest their means as before, for God will exercise His power to counteract such efforts. It calls all to come out from sin so as not to share in its plagues.
