Hiram Edson Kneeling in the Cornfield Sees the Heavenly Sanctuaryby KandD

Revelation 3:8

I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name.

Christ the holy and true one who holds the key of David and opens what none can shut speaks to His faithful people and declares that He knows all their works and has placed before those with only a little strength who keep His word and do not deny His name an open door secured by His own authority that no human or earthly power can close. That open door is the entrance into the Most Holy Place of the heavenly sanctuary, opened at the end of the 2300 days in 1844 when His ministry passed from the Holy Place to the Most Holy. There He ministers as merciful High Priest, pleading His blood before the Father to blot out the sins of the faithful in the antitypical Day of Atonement, so that probation still lingers and sinners are still invited to enter by faith. It also means free and continual access to God through Christ Himself, the living way, so that even the weakest and most sinful may come with prayer in every place and find mercy, forgiveness, power to be transformed, and all the promises made sure in Him. Those who enter must therefore hold fast with their little strength, keep His law and word against falsehood and transgression, refuse to deny His name by life or compromise, and overcome by His infinite strength, and they will be loved, kept through trial and through the hour of temptation, and made pillars in the temple of God.

Speaker, Setting, and Wording

The One speaking is He who is holy, He who is true, He who has the key of David, who opens and no one shuts and shuts and no one opens. He has all power in heaven and in earth, is equal to divinity, and is the Prince of life, the Majesty of heaven, and the King of glory. He left the royal throne and high command, clothed His divinity with humanity, became a Man of sorrows acquainted with grief, and was tempted in all points as human beings are tempted that He might know how to help the tempted, and in Him the hopes of eternal life are centered. What He opens no human power, angel, earthly power, or opposing force can close, and what He closes none can open. He Himself is the open door with the gates ajar, so that those with little strength need not be discouraged nor fight in their own strength, for communication cut off by transgression is renewed by His sacrifice, His human arm encircling the race while His divine arm grasps the throne of the Infinite. Light from heaven descending upon Him at His baptism acknowledged Him as accepted Substitute, so that through that sacrifice the race is accepted in the Beloved and through faith and obedience to the commandments will be brought back to the Eden home. Letting Him open the windows of the soul heavenward illuminates the heart by rays from the throne, and when He closes the door of the heart against the enemy no power can open it to Satan, but if the heart is closed to Him by refusal to repent, prayers, good works, and human praise are of no avail. Heaven stands wide open with the glorious prize in full view, calling for coming fully into the light with thorough work for eternity rather than halfway compromise, and for studying the word of His patience and pressing to the mark with cooperating angels so that love, power, and salvation are seen, with brighter courage and light from Jesus coming when the burden feels gone.

The verse is the message to the angel of the church in Philadelphia, declaring His knowledge of their works and a door set before them that none can close because they have a little strength and have kept His word and have not denied His name. It stands among His messages to the churches alongside the call to be watchful, strengthen what remains, hold fast and repent, and alongside promises that the overcomer will be clothed in white, kept in the book of life, confessed before the Father and angels, kept from the hour of temptation upon the world until He comes quickly, and made a pillar in God's temple bearing God and New Jerusalem. It belongs to the last testimony given to John on Patmos, message after message to the churches including Ephesus, Pergamos, Sardis, Philadelphia, and Laodicea, recorded in Revelation 1, 2, and 3 to be heeded and obeyed with continuous readiness. Those chapters give the history of Satan's effort to bring dissension into the church, and the difficulties they describe must still be met today. The names of the churches are symbolic of the Christian church in different periods of the Christian era, and the number seven indicates completeness, showing the messages extend to the end of time and are in force today. The figures portray the state of professed people, with wheat developing among tares and truth standing on its eternal basis in contrast with error.

The third chapter belongs to the church of the present day and portrays conditions existing in the last days. Its last part describes the condition of Seventh-day Adventists, and its lesson of warning speaks especially to those who have received great light, to professed churches living in transgression, and to last events with perils now upon us, because the time is at hand. The whole chapter including this verse is to be read by members and applied personally as they decide day by day between eternal life and eternal death. Every word of the chapter, including its first three verses, is to be studied earnestly, understood, traced through, kept, and heeded by those watching for souls as those who must give an account. Watchmen, ministers, doctors, and members in every place are to guard every outpost, answer in clear decided tones under the Holy Spirit, rouse from stubborn unbelief, do the work given them, and permit no soul to pass into uncertainty, be led wrong, or become confused and perish, with Christ measuring works and warning where good qualifications are neutralized by self-love and neglect to help and love brethren.

I know thy works means the holy true Witness and heavenly Watcher knows all works and all are accountable hour by hour, moment by moment. He marks words and deportment, reads motives prompting action, is acquainted with thoughts and intents of the heart as well as every word and act, knows all about religious experience, knows whom each loves and serves, sees even dishonest dealings that cannot be hidden, and calls for close self-examination. Works lie open before Him and are written in the books of heaven, and beside those record books stands another book, the Book of Life, the Lamb's Book of Life, containing the names of those who have laid hold upon Jesus Christ, while those who tried to live as the world lives will have their works appear exactly as they are. This knowledge confronts self-deception and calls for humility before God. He approves and blesses the faithful messenger who teaches duty to support church expenses and the members who give gifts and offerings with self-denial to sustain their own church demands, and He knows His servant's works and will care for his interests better than he can himself, so that even with little strength full confidence will not make ashamed when the case is left in His hands to mold and fashion rather than fixed to suit human ideas. Because the door stands open there is no excuse for sin or for the least unfaithfulness, but those under the blood-stained banner as His soldiers are to use it by calling upon Him in trouble and seeking Him in need, for He will not fail nor forsake, honoring their Captain by holding integrity, being fervent in business serving the Lord, taking decided stand against wrong, striving for character, having understanding cleansed and ennobled, choosing blessing not curse, and purifying the mind by obeying truth with no time for idleness.

Christ knows the works of Philadelphia and has set before those with a little strength who have kept His word and not denied His name an open door secured by His authority that no man, angel, earthly power, or human opposition can shut. The door signifies opportunity and access, and God instructs His people and gives skill and understanding to strengthen His work in every place. The church's little strength does not prevent keeping His word and refusing to deny His name. This commends believers who maintain faith amid conflict and promises opportunity and assurance for faithful perseverance.

Sanctuary Door in Prophecy

The open door is the entrance into the Most Holy Place of the heavenly sanctuary, opened at the end of the 2300 days in 1844, on the tenth day of the seventh month, when Christ's mediation in the Holy Place ended and that door was shut. That change from one apartment to the other was secured by His own authority, so that no man, angel, earthly power or human opposition can open what He shut or shut what He opened. There He ministers as officiating Priest and merciful High Priest for sinners, pleading His blood before the Father before the ark of God containing the ten precepts and the mercy-seat. Through that intercession forgiveness of sins is offered, and mercy and hope are opened in the fullest sense.

That ministry is the antitypical Day of Atonement to blot out the sins of the faithful people and to cleanse the sanctuary, entered to make a special atonement for Israel. Probation had not ended at that change, for Christ continued presenting His blood and pleading for sinners, and the door of hope and mercy was not closed altogether. The invitation to enter by faith into the Most Holy Place beyond the second veil continues until probation closes and gospel ministry ends, and when that work is complete He will return in kingly power to gather the waiting ones. Light shining through that open door and from the temple since 1844 reveals the Ten Commandments in the ark, showing the fourth commandment as part of God's unaltered law preserved in heaven. Accepting the sanctuary truth therefore involves recognizing the claims of the law and the obligation to keep the Sabbath, by which God's people are tested, and what God established through this ministry no human effort to close that door can overthrow.

The verse applies to Advent believers as Philadelphia, who stood united in brotherly love at the passing of the time and held fast their Advent experience through trial and disappointment. Waiting and praying until by faith they saw Jesus beside the ark pleading His blood, they found a firm platform of faith and received comfort to their stricken hearts. The disappointment came because they wrongly expected the earth to be the sanctuary to be cleansed, not because God failed to fulfill promise and prophetic periods. Published testimonies about the 1844 shut door help decide for truth, while His ministry in the Most Holy Place nears its finish. No one can reverse what God opened and shut, though enemies try to close the door He opened and reopen the one He shut.

The shut door is upon those who rejected the light brought to the world by the message of the second angel, who lost sight of Him at that change and went into darkness, and how great was that darkness. Yet a great work remained to be done in the world for those who had not had the light and rejected it, even while believers expected the Lord soon to come in the clouds of heaven. The open-door vision did not mean that no more sinners would be converted. Christians who died before that door opened in 1844, without its light and test concerning the true Sabbath, rest in hope and are not condemned for failing a test they had not received.

The meaning and forceful application of the verse are seen in connection with the sanctuary and its light about Christ's ministry there. It must be studied diligently because it points out the danger of losing hold upon things heard and learned from the Source of all light. Keeping hold guards the platform of truth against human interpretations, fables, and subtle theories that loosen one pin or remove one pillar, spoil faith, confuse understanding, and make faith in Jesus Christ of none effect.

Access to God Through Christ

The open door is free and continual access to approach God with petitions, desires, and Spirit-inspired prayers mingled with Christ's perfection, believing He hears and answers. It stands open in every place, even in streets, marketplaces, crowded companies, and busiest temptations where kneeling is impossible, through silent desire retreating to the secret pavilion of the Most High for wisdom, victory, and grace that will not fail nor forsake. By living faith in His power to help through this door, strength is received to fight the battles of the Lord with confident assurance of victory. The devil tries to shut it, but believers still have living access to the Eternal by faith in prayer and can expect victory from Him.

Christ Himself is the open door with gates ajar, the living way restoring communication cut off by transgression. His human arm encircles the race while His divine arm grasps the throne of the Infinite, for He left the royal throne, clothed divinity with humanity, was tempted as humans are to know how to help the tempted, and in Him hopes of eternal life are centered. Heaven opened at His baptism with the Father's declaration of acceptance, guaranteeing fallen people's acceptance in the Beloved through His sacrifice as Substitute. Through Him even the most sinful, needy, oppressed, and despised may come to the Father and find a home in prepared mansions, so those with little strength need not be discouraged or fight in their own strength. His victory opens heaven's door and closes the door to Satan's devices, giving everyone who receives Him power to become a child of God.

The door opens the treasury and market of divine mercy, truth, and salvation to everyone without money, price, or worldly wealth, with no sword guarding the way and no one able to bar it. It is the entrance into life with heavenly gates open to receive sinners and the way of escape from sin, and the city of God with all its attractions calls sinners to come through it. Faithful workers set it before sinners by holy life, entreaties, prayers, and warnings that fasten attention upon it until earthly attractions fade and the heavenly wins and charms the soul. Receiving its pearl and gifts means giving self wholly to Christ and obeying His commandments.

Entering the door is access to all promises yes in Christ and to infinite power to become partakers of divine nature and be transformed to divine likeness. It means taking every trouble to the Lord in prayer by asking, seeking, and knocking instead of unloading troubles on neighbors, with assurance of receiving. It brings the Holy Spirit to cleanse hindering thoughts and take possession of the soul, giving healthy inner life and joy. It is working in co-partnership with Christ at the head of humanity in meekness, depending wholly on His righteousness and guidance rather than defective humans, humbled by trial to do the works He bids.

No man can shut or hide the light of God's glory shining from heaven's threshold along the whole ladder to be climbed. It is round about believers now though sight will be clearer when darkness is overcome, heaven is nearer than supposed, and beholding the door brings heaven into the home while preparing for heaven above. Light shines through the door as privilege to look toward it and receive all Christ is willing to give. When people stand rightly related and speak together under the Spirit, the Spirit is fully imparted to accomplish the work in unity. This gift gives every reason for continual praise and magnifying His name.

The open door is Jesus exalted as Prince and Saviour to give repentance and forgiveness, with whom God freely gives all things without falsifying His word and without leaving His people comfortless. It is to be beheld and looked to by faith whenever tempted. It must not be closed by unbelief, unfaithfulness, or refusal to be a doer of the Word.

What He opens no human or satanic power, however strong, can close and what He closes none can open, for He is holy and true with the key of David and His door remains always open. Yet a person can shut himself off by choosing sin, rejecting heaven's light and truth, refusing messengers' light of the last year and a half, or closing the heart's windows earthward instead of heavenward. Letting Him open the soul heavenward to throne rays and close it against the enemy secures it, closing the heart's door to Satan so no power can open it to him. If the heart is closed to the Saviour by refusal to repent, prayers, works, and praise are of no avail.

Faithfulness With Little Strength

Though having only a little strength, the faithful keep the word and do not deny the name, maintaining faith amid conflict and conquering day by day by Infinite strength and light from Christ's face shining upon them as mediator making atonement. That little strength is strength in the Lord's strength, courage in His courage, and light in His light, with glory round about even now though clearer sight will come when darkness is overcome, and it makes them trustworthy members of God's family whom Christ acknowledges, loves, and will keep through the coming hour of trial. They are to cast helpless souls on Christ alone, enter the open door He Himself has set that no one can shut, hold fast to promises and trust whether or not assurance or joy is felt, draw further strength from the living fountain, and seek greater power so that more than little strength can be said of them. Those who so conquer will keep pure character, have the soul temple cleansed and the heart opened to Christ knocking, will not have life blotted from the book of life, and will enter through the city gates with right to the tree of life.

Having little strength also describes churches with limited resources where the cause struggles for existence, whom the great Husbandman cares for without localizing care to some above others. Such condition forbids any outlay not positively necessary, yet requires sowing seeds of truth, tenderly guarding and faithfully supporting missionary settlements, giving encouragement and help to the unlettered and lowly, binding about or hindering no line of work, watching for souls as those who must give account, and uniting prayers for success while God with patience and discrimination cares for the seed sown.

Keeping the word means keeping the law even when the world sustains sin and gives popularity to transgression, which does not lessen the force of any divine principle, requiring earnest decision to be on the right side as the majority in Noah's day chose the wrong. It means holding fast what was received and heard from the Source of all light, holding a Thus saith the Lord in which is eternal wisdom and the only remedy for individual and national woes, with continual access for wisdom even where kneeling openly in streets and marketplaces is impossible. It requires staying where truth is kept direct and uncorrupted, having the candlestick and fine correct discernment of truth, bringing truths to mind and holding fast rather than giving away or letting loose what was heard and established. It refuses a spiritual atmosphere poisoned with skepticism and falsehood, and rejects human interpretations, fables, and subtle theories that give false coloring to truth, loosen a pin or remove a pillar of the platform, spoil faith, confuse understanding, and make faith of none effect, since truth received into the heart develops character fit for immortal life while changing truth into a lie shuts out of heaven unless repented.

Not denying the name is not mere profession of belief but living in harmony with teaching and drawing souls to Him, whereas to deny is to profess while working directly contrary and exerting influence that draws souls away. It is conscientiously keeping the commandments and refusing to worship the papal institution as an idol sabbath despite persecution. It holds Christ as the only hope because His name gives access to the Father, and calls for faithfulness now because denial will be done in much bolder manner in the future.

Keeping the word is lived by hearing with responsibility to confess faith through obedient action upon receiving and acting on light that reveals the open door. It is ever keeping Christ in view with eye single to God's glory, continually beholding Him to be changed from glory to glory and character to character, receiving bright rays of the Sun of Righteousness and reflecting the Light of the World to others. It is staying the soul on God, committing perplexities and anxieties to Jesus to receive peace in the soul temple, having His image engraved on the heart, binding commandments on the heart and carrying them out in every act rather than mere profession, bringing happy families and entrance to the city, revealing Him in daily practical obedience. Through the open door so entered the throne is seen overshadowed by the rainbow of promise as token of the everlasting covenant, with mercy and truth knit together drawing praise.

The true Witness commends young believers and all who with little strength so keep the word and do not deny the name. The open door remains even for one whose course has not been right and who showed manifest weakness under reproofs and warnings, on condition of humbling the heart, adjusting wrongs with others, not appealing to self-sympathy nor dwelling on what others did or neglected, not sitting in judgment, making straight paths for the feet, appropriating light personally, confessing and repenting sin, and following with undivided heart, since one blot of unconfessed unrepented sin closes the city gates. Those who remain true to word and name will stand as faithful witnesses when tested and the church will not be left without them, while those refusing to bear witness will lose their place and be replaced by the faithful.

Warnings, Promises, and Overcoming

The verse is spoken as a warning to hear what the Spirit says to the churches, calling for earnest decision to know there is a right side and a wrong side and to be on the right side. Keeping His word and not denying His name means taking a decided position on Christ's side in the last conflict on earth between good and evil where neutrality is impossible, acknowledging Him before the world in word and work. As in Noah's day the largest number chose the wrong side, so now young men and young women must keep His law even when the world sustains sin and gives popularity to transgression, which does not lessen the force of any principle of God. It belongs to an earnest warning to prepare to meet the Lord coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory, confronting indifference to the signs foretold by Christ that give evidence the end of the world is right upon us. Its promise belongs to dying to self to gain precious Christian experience and to overcome pride and haughtiness and spiritual poverty.

The open door means free access to approach God with petitions, believing He will hear and answer, and by living faith in His power to help strength is received to fight the battles of the Lord with confident assurance of victory. Opportunity to enter salvation stands open by His authority, but probation will close and then no one can reopen it. The closing brings terror to those who have lived without faith and confidence in God, like passengers who feel secure until sudden danger threatens, while believers by contrast can trust Christ through peril and uncertainty.

The faithful with little strength who keep His word and do not deny His name are loved by Christ and will be kept through the coming hour of trial and temptation upon the world until He comes quickly. The overcomer will be clothed in white raiment, will not have his name blotted from the book of life, will be confessed before the Father and angels, and will be made a pillar in God's temple bearing the name of God and New Jerusalem. The open door carries the strength of the Infinite One because it is Christ the mediator making atonement, and the light of God's glory reflected on the face of Jesus shines upon His children on earth as strength for each one to conquer day by day, keep pure character, have the soul temple cleansed and the heart opened to Jesus knocking. That open door no one can shut is free access to the portals of the city of God, to the royal presence, and to the temple of God on high, so that when the stained human heart with impurity and deceit is thrown open to the all-seeing Eye and submitted to be refined and purified, escaping corruption through lust and partaking of divine nature, the name stands registered in the book of life and the title to the heavenly inheritance bears the royal signet which none on earth dare question and no one can bar the way. Those who have fought the battles of the Lord and have kept the faith without denying the Saviour's name will receive a crown of life in the day when life and immortality are given to all who have been faithful, and will enter through the city gates with right to the tree of life.

The verse leaves no time to be idle and indifferent, but calls to strive to develop Christian character, to have spiritual understanding cleansed, purified, sanctified and ennobled, to take sides now, to choose a blessing and not a curse, and to purify the mind now by obeying the truth. It stands with the call to remember from whence fallen, repent, and do the first works, and applies to believers who have become dead and self-centered, like salt without savor, neglecting God-given work to shine light amid moral darkness, use entrusted talents, watch unto prayer, and practice the truth so it sanctifies their own souls and others. It points believers to truths they must bring to mind and hold fast, rather than give away what they have heard. The open door remains for one whose course has not been right before God and who has shown manifest weakness in the face of reproofs and warnings, on condition of humbling the heart before God, going to adjust wrongs with others, not appealing to self-sympathy or dwelling on what others have done or neglected, not sitting in judgment on others, showing greater wisdom in making straight paths for the feet, appropriating light and knowledge personally, confessing and repenting of sin, and following the Lord with undivided heart, because one blot on the character, one sin unconfessed and unrepented of, will close for that person the gates of the city of God.

Christ as the true Witness knows all works and all are accountable hour by hour, moment by moment, and this knowledge confronts self-deception and calls for humility before God. He declares His knowledge of works as blessing on faithfulness, approving and blessing the faithful messenger who teaches Christians their duty to support church expenses and the members who give gifts and offerings with self-denial and do their part instead of excusing themselves from sustaining their own church demands. The open door He sets before those who keep His word is open access so desires and prayers can reach Christ and His grace can shine forth to the needy, and all the confederacy of evil cannot close it. Because the door stands open there is no excuse for sin and no excuse for the least degree of unfaithfulness. Those who stand under the blood-stained banner of Christ as His soldiers must use the open door by calling upon Him in the day of trouble and seeking Him in the hour of need, for He will not fail nor forsake them, and must honor their Captain by holding fast integrity, by being not slothful in business but fervent in spirit serving the Lord, and by taking a decided stand against every wrong practice.

The verse contains no soothsaying but gives sure, definite truth. The whole chapter must be read, understood, and traced through, with special force in its first three verses, as a most tremendous testimony for the last days, a solemn warning given from God and a lesson reminding of things which will be. It was made known by Christ Himself to John on the Isle of Patmos and concerns the last events of this earth's history, the perils of the last days now upon us, and Satan seeks to keep minds confused about these things to gain a great victory, so no confusion can be afforded now.

Opportunity and Daily Living

The open door is opportunity and a way forward for service that no one can shut, set before the faithful who have little strength yet keep the word and do not deny the name. It is a promise of divine instruction with skill and understanding to strengthen the work in every place. For teachers it assures help beyond any human source when strength and guidance fail. Even if leading men refuse light and truth, the door stays open and others are raised up to give the message for the time.

God opens ways for His truth to be known that no earthly power can shut away. He opens doors of opportunity for His work that can no longer be shut, and the open way at Takoma Park calls for earnest action and support while the opportunity remains. He can open a way and give influence that no person can shut off, so closed doors and worldly demands for advanced training do not prevent doing the work He calls for, since He can provide another worker or opportunity. Believers are to enter those openings at once, establish Christian missions in cities, and use resources to send workers and spread truth in new fields. Even when debts seem impossible to cancel and means of help appear taken away, work is to continue in trust that He knows the circumstances and can provide a way forward. Sanitariums are open doors to reach sufferers with gospel healing through Christ.

After those who received Jesus of Nazareth as Messiah were expelled from the synagogues, Christ set before them working opportunity that none could stop. That open door is the call to go into highways and hedges and compel people to come in that the house may be filled. It is carried out by going constantly from place to place proclaiming salvation through Christ rather than building fine churches and settling over them as pastors.

The door is present opportunity set before fathers and mothers to train children for the holy city. It requires thorough religion in the home and educating children to well-balanced characters the Lord can approve, since He works with human effort but will not do the work given to people to do. Parents are to do the work themselves of making children acquainted with Jesus as best friend in youth and leading them to know Christ for heaven. They are to educate them to leave all that would stain and corrupt, as the white lily leaves stain in the sand, gathering only what is pure and lovely and following Christ the Pattern with more of Jesus and less of self, so they stand pure and white before the throne where nothing defiling enters. This calls for wrestling day and night in prayer saying Give me my children, refusing to give them to the enemy, and gaining their influence for saving souls so the family becomes missionaries, with the result that children stand around the great white throne as subjects of Christ and neglect leaves them outside that company. In the home and beyond, discouragement by talking of defects is to give way to talking of light, for heaven is full of light and Christ is the light of the world, by hopeful strong comforting words, looking away from others' imperfections, showing the better way by practical godliness, recovering what was lost, refusing impulsive injury to any soul, and teaching children patiently in love and tenderness line upon line with pleasant words.

For commandment keepers with little strength the open door includes health reform to bring sacred relation with Christ through temperance in eating and drinking, keeping mind and body in the most favorable condition for service. Those weak and feeble who keep His word and take their stand on the light He gives will be strengthened by Him to better health even in old age. Keeping His word here means accepting that flesh meat is not right food for God's people, because it animalizes human nature, robs love and sympathy, and lets lower passions rule the higher powers, since people are built up from what they eat, and where fruits, grains and nuts abound there is no need to eat flesh of dead animals. Those who have backslidden must be converted and deny perverted appetite to place themselves where God can cooperate with them, with no precise dietary line laid down except wholesome food.

The open opportunity calls physicians, nurses, helpers and other sanitarium workers to be missionaries in a missionary field, correctly representing Bible religion by piety, earnest devotion and strictest fidelity in work, in fellowship with those who have not defiled their garments. It charges watchmen, ministers and doctors in every place guarding every outpost to answer in clear decided tones under the Holy Spirit and to rouse from stubborn unbelief, studying every word of the third chapter, so no soul is left in uncertainty, led wrong, confused and perishing. The door stands open for every son and daughter of God in every place, meaning God may be taken into the busiest places and into temptations where He is least thought of. Those who keep truth in simplicity and love and cherish Thus saith the Lord may keep Him ever before them, seek Him, carry the lamp of life there, and be drawn into the secret pavilion of the Most High as safeguard and quiet rest amid confusion and rush of business, for He is not far from the seeking soul and faith and communion need not break. Many are left to themselves in temptation because they do not set the Lord before them, and if He is left out of sight and communion broken the soul is in positive danger and integrity will not be maintained.

When those who at baptism vowed to break all connection with Satan and enlist heart and soul to extend God's kingdom stay true to that vow, a door of communication with heaven stands open before them that no human hand or satanic agency can close. Father, Son and Holy Spirit are pledged to cooperate with sanctified workers in that work. After the sacrifice Christ made to rescue from sin and cleanse from all unrighteousness, God puts before people an open opportunity no person can close, and nothing more could have been done for them than has been done. Gratitude therefore requires accepting it and acting now, letting final character be formed and choosing to serve God rather than Baal amid surrounding corruption.
