The Tribes Sealed Before the ThroneBible World

Revelation 7:6

Of the tribe of Aser were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Nepthalim were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Manasses were sealed twelve thousand.

The verse is part of the representation in Revelation 7 given for comfort and encouragement about God's chosen few being sealed before judgment is allowed to harm the earth. Its setting reveals terrible judgments in which the Lord goes forth to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity, including seven angels standing before God to receive their commission and receiving seven trumpets, and the earth disclosing her blood and no more covering her slain. It points toward the plagues of God when hail about the weight of a talent will fall upon the wicked who would not obey God but insulted Him and despised His mercies.

The twelve thousand each of Asher, Naphtali, and Manasseh belong to the account of the 144,000 made up of the sealed members of the twelve tribes. Those sealed are people who keep all the commandments of God and have the faith of Jesus. They are those purchased by Christ's ransom. The sealing work is carried out under the direction and authority of Christ Himself, the Angel of the covenant and Redeemer, who commands the angels to hold back harm until God's servants are sealed in their foreheads.

Christ is the One ascending from the east, the Dayspring from on high and Light of the world in whom is life, the Child born and Son given with government upon His shoulder, Wonderful, Counselor, mighty God, everlasting Father, Prince of Peace, and as Restorer, divine and human united and superior to the hosts of angels, He summons the four angels commissioned for a work on earth to hold the four winds in check and commands that earth, sea, and trees not be harmed until the sealing is done. The sealing of twelve thousand from each tribe is part of a message to be given to every nation, kindred, tongue, and people, meaning preparation for Christ's coming in order to be among the number who will be sealed. That preparation requires not burying talents in worldly business or commercialism and not becoming so engrossed in the things of this world as to have no time or thought for readiness. The important work now is to make sure robes are washed and made white in the blood of the Lamb.

The exact makeup of that company tribe by tribe, and who will be included in that number, is not given to be known now but will be learned and understood in heaven, so its mystery is to be left with God. What the Lord has put in His Word about them is sufficient, and prayerful study of the Scriptures lets the Holy Spirit make the correct application to the heart without asking for more identification or speculating beyond what is clearly revealed. The 144,000 will be Jews who acknowledge Jesus as the Messiah. The belief that the 144,000 will be Jews who acknowledge Jesus as Messiah must be changed or modified before a person can be sent out to present the truth to others.
