Revelation 8:13

And I beheld, and heard an angel flying through the midst of heaven, saying with a loud voice, Woe, woe, woe, to the inhabiters of the earth by reason of the other voices of the trumpet of the three angels, which are yet to sound!

The vision shows an angel flying through the midst of heaven uttering a threefold woe against the dwellers on earth. That proclamation belongs to a time when Scripture is set aside, human wisdom is lifted up, and the wisdom of the age gives worship to Satan and the man of sin.

The woe rests on a church that walks in the sparks of its own kindling rather than drawing its light and power from the great central light, the Sun of Righteousness, and diffusing that light and glory to those in darkness. No lampstand, no church, shines of itself, for all its light flows from Christ as He walks amid the seven golden candlesticks, furnishing oil to the burning lamps and kindling the flame. By absorbing and spreading the light received from the throne of God the church makes its own light burn more brightly, while whoever receives light but fails to impart it as God requires becomes a receptacle of darkness.
