Revelation 9:3

Revelation 9:3 belongs to the prophecy of the Ottoman Empire and its overthrow. The chapter first gives a period of 150 years exactly fulfilled before Deacozes ascended the throne by permission of the Turks. This is followed by 391 years and fifteen days ending on August 11, 1840, when the Ottoman power in Constantinople was broken.
On that very date specified the Ottoman government surrendered its independence and placed itself under the control of the European, Christian powers. This was done through Turkey, by her ambassadors, accepting the protection of the allied powers of Europe. The exact fulfillment convinced multitudes of the correctness of the principles of prophetic interpretation adopted in preaching the second advent and gave a wonderful impetus to the Advent movement. From 1840 to 1844 men of learning and position united in preaching and publishing, and the work rapidly extended.
