By whom we have received grace and apostleship, for obedience to the faith among all nations, for his name:
The first chapter of Romans is to be read entire and presented in its full force to every family, minister, and church as a true experience that sets out accountability to God. The grace received through Jesus Christ makes those who receive it partakers of salvation and appoints them as His missionaries among all nations. That obedience to the faith among all nations for His name begins in the home, where fathers and mothers especially are called to take up their strangely neglected work. All families who claim to be sons and daughters of God with names on the church record are charged to be laborers together with God and to meet their accountability as faithful, exemplary believers.
To obey the truth in righteousness rather than holding the truth in unrighteousness means being sanctified through belief of the truth. It means being converted and cleansed from every species of iniquity through the sanctifying grace of God in home life. Mere knowledge of the truth and profession of faith do not cleanse from iniquity. The believed truth must sanctify the receiver's heart and produce works of obedience instead of denying the truth by works, because the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness.
Obedience brings benefits, and the right use of the physical, mental, and moral powers God has bestowed brings an eternal reward. The obedience of the faith makes believers lights scattered all over the earth whose faith and works testify to the near approach of the coming Saviour and prove they have not received the grace of God in vain. This witness warns people to prepare for the coming Judgment and brings the sure word of prophecy as a light shining in a dark place to those who have listened only to fables.
