Paul Dictates His Letter to the Romansby emmanuel_higgins

Romans 1:6

Among whom are ye also the called of Jesus Christ:

Among whom are ye also the called of Jesus Christ stands in the first chapter of Romans, which must be read whole, weighed, grasped in its particular meaning, and given in its full force. That whole chapter sets out the true experience that families having their names on the church record must read and obey.

It reveals the wrath of God from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men and women who hold the truth in unrighteousness. The verse speaks to all who have claimed to be sons and daughters of God, with fathers and mothers especially addressed. It calls ministers who preach the Word to be sanctified through belief of the truth, calls churches to have a thorough work done in them, and calls every family to conversion. In that calling they are to be laborers together with God and to meet their accountability as faithful, exemplary believers.

It charges them to take up their strangely neglected work in the home life, to obey the truth in righteousness, and to let the sanctifying grace of God cleanse them from every species of iniquity. Their knowledge of the truth is to sanctify the heart instead of being held as supposed belief while denied in works. To be among the called of Jesus Christ means being accountable to use physical, mental, and moral powers in right cooperation with God for His rich, glorious ends. Obedience brings benefit, improvement of given talents increases happiness in this life, and right use brings eternal reward, while neglect and perversion of those powers defeats His purpose and brings misery and dishonor to the Maker.
