Romans 11:28
As concerning the gospel, they are enemies for your sakes: but as touching the election, they are beloved for the fathers’ sakes. As concerning the gospel, they are enemies for your sakes: but as touching the election, they are beloved for the fathers’ sakes.
As concerning the gospel, Israel as a nation are enemies for the sake of the Gentiles through unbelief and rejection of Heaven's purpose, having lost connection with God and been broken off like branches from a noble olive tree. As touching the election, they are still beloved for the fathers' sakes, for God has not cast away His people but has kept a remnant true to Him as the true stock of Israel, chosen for the sake of their forefathers, and the seed of Israel are still beloved and to be sought for Christ. Their blindness is only in part and belongs to a mystery, lasting only until the fullness of the Gentiles comes in.
If they do not remain in unbelief, God is able to graft them as natural branches into their own olive tree again, which is to be grafted into Christ as the true stock. Their receiving will be as life from the dead, and their fullness will be greater riches. Then all Israel shall be saved when the Deliverer comes out of Zion to turn ungodliness away from Jacob and to take away their sins under the covenant. The gifts and calling of God are without repentance, so those who fell and were cast away can be restored, for God concluded all in unbelief that He might have mercy upon all and transform Jew and Gentile alike so every believer in Christ receives the blessings promised to Israel.
Gentile believers who stand only by faith must not boast against the Jews or despise them or be highminded, but must fear and continue in God's goodness lest they also be cut off. Among the Jews the Lord has mighty men and many who will be converted, accept the truth, come to the light, and proclaim the truth and the immutability of God's law with power and wonderful power, through whom salvation shall go forth as a burning lamp. The Gentiles shall be gathered in, and not the Gentiles only, but the Jews, for there are Jews everywhere to whom the light is to come.
The verse calls for a great work for the Jewish people everywhere: they must not be ignored but sought for Christ, given every opportunity to come to the light, with the light of present truth brought to them, and the work must be treated with special wisdom, done in all wisdom and righteousness as God's people receive God's wisdom and clear the King's highway. Jews who accept Christ and are cut off from their people are to be helped with a place of refuge where they are cared for and taught to work for their own people, and in this the Lord will work and do wonderful things in righteousness.
