Romans 11:5

Even so then at this present time also there is a remnant according to the election of grace.

Even though Israel rejected Jesus, God had not rejected or cast away His people. At Paul's present time there remained a faithful Jewish remnant chosen by grace. That remnant was faithful Jews at the Saviour's advent who gladly received the message of John the Baptist, were led to study the prophecies concerning the Messiah anew, recognized Jesus of Nazareth as the promised Messiah for whose advent they had longed, accepted Him, and formed the early Christian church at its founding.

Israel as a nation stumbled, fell, and failed, but that fall was not final and did not make it impossible for Jews to rise again and be saved. At this present time God still has among the Jews a remnant according to grace. That remnant includes mighty men who will proclaim the truth with power.

The Jews are not to be despised. A great work is to be done for the Jewish people so that many of the seed of Israel who accept Christ may be grafted into the true stock, Christ Jesus, with a refuge and a place to learn to work for their own people provided for those cut off from their people for believing. The work for the Jews must not be ignored but must be treated with special wisdom, with God's people working in all wisdom and righteousness to clear the King's highway so that the Jews are given every opportunity of coming to the light.
