Romans 14:14
I know, and am persuaded by the Lord Jesus, that there is nothing unclean of itself: but to him that esteemeth any thing to be unclean, to him it is unclean. I know, and am persuaded by the Lord Jesus, that there is nothing unclean of itself: but to him that esteemeth any thing to be unclean, to him it is unclean.
Nothing is unclean in itself, but anything is unclean to the one who esteems it to be unclean. In matters of diet each person may follow conscientious conviction even when others do not share it, and differing views on such questions must not be forced upon one another. Such differences must not be allowed to divide fellow believers.
Believers must not put a stumbling block in the way of souls that would cause them to stumble over them to destruction. Those who keep the Sabbath injure those outside and lay obstacles before them when they act from impulse rather than from sound judgment. They do the same when they dwell on fragments of God's Word that are not of vital importance, and when they present the truth at all times and in all places in a manner that is not acceptable. Such a course makes the faith of the body disgusting to unbelievers. Those who have unjustly censured and wounded others must take it all back and commence anew, exerting instead a holy influence upon everyone around them, including unbelievers.
