Romans 15:24
Whensoever I take my journey into Spain, I will come to you: for I trust to see you in my journey, and to be brought on my way thitherward by you, if first I be somewhat filled with your company. Whensoever I take my journey into Spain, I will come to you: for I trust to see you in my journey, and to be brought on my way thitherward by you, if first I be somewhat filled with your company.
Paul planned to travel to Spain and to visit the believers in Rome on the way. The intended route ran from Jerusalem through Rome to Spain. He hoped to see the Roman Christians in his journey and to receive their fellowship and help for the mission in Spain. He expected first to spend time with them and enjoy their company, and then to be helped onward by them toward Spain.
His purpose in the Roman visit was to establish the Christian faith in Rome. He also aimed to enlist the church there in support of further gospel work. That long-delayed visit to Rome followed years of preaching in regions where Christ had not yet been named.
