Romans 16:26

But now is made manifest, and by the scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, made known to all nations for the obedience of faith:

The mystery is the gospel plan of salvation in Christ, the hidden wisdom of God ordained before the world unto glory and hidden in God from the beginning. It is the wisdom spoken among the mature, and it is not the wisdom of this world nor of its princes that come to nothing. Kept secret since the world began, it is now made manifest and uncovered.

Its manifestation began as soon as man sinned, when Christ commenced His priesthood after the order of Melchizedek. Then the gospel was preached in Eden, that the seed of the woman would bruise the serpent's head and the serpent would bruise His heel. That promise lit the dark future with the Star of Hope, so that the fallen race under the dominion of death would not be left to become extinguished but would be made prisoners of hope.

Since that promise given in Eden, God has revealed His mysteries through His prophets. By the Scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, the mystery is now made known to all nations for the obedience of faith. Once kept secret, it has been proclaimed to all nations so that they may obey through faith.

It comes through the gospel and the preaching of Jesus Christ, by which God is able to establish believers and make them firm. It comes not with enticing words of man's wisdom but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, so that faith stands in the power of God. This hidden wisdom was unknown to the princes of this world, who would not have crucified the Lord of glory if they had known it. The other worlds God created watched the apostasy and its remedy with intense interest.

Glory belongs forever to the only wise God through Jesus Christ. The making known of the mystery calls believers to hold the doctrine they learned. They are to mark and avoid those who stir up divisions and stumbling against it, who do not serve Christ but deceive innocent hearts with smooth talk, to be wise about good and untouched by evil, to first learn truth from Christ, to let obedience make them like Him in thought, word, and deed, and to stand ready in defense of truth.

The sacred Word by which it is made known has enduring power and must be taught always, at all times and in all places, because nothing else can take its place as truth against error.
