Priscilla and Aquila Working at Their Tent-Making Shopby KalebRosendahl

Romans 16:4

Who have for my life laid down their own necks: unto whom not only I give thanks, but also all the churches of the Gentiles.

Aquila and Priscilla laid down their own necks for Paul by risking their own lives to save his life. For this Paul gave them thanks, and not only he but also all the churches of the Gentiles gave them thanks as well. Priscilla's share in that sacrifice, publicly commended in this way, shows that she labored together with gospel workers as a fellow worker in the gospel, proving that the Lord has a work for women as well as for men to do.

The same public commendation shows that other women labored with Paul as fellow workers with him in making the truth known. This matches how Christ also used women who helped Him in presenting the truth to others. It gives warrant for women who have the cause of God at heart to do a good work in the districts where they live and to minister in unenlightened communities in regions beyond, awakening an interest and helping present the truth and instruct families in the Word of God.
