Romans 2:27

And shall not uncircumcision which is by nature, if it fulfil the law, judge thee, who by the letter and circumcision dost transgress the law?

The one who is uncircumcised by nature, yet fulfills the law, will judge the one who has the written law and circumcision and still transgresses the law. Circumcision is profitable only when the law is kept, for breaking the law turns circumcision into uncircumcision, while uncircumcision that keeps the righteousness of the law is counted as circumcision. Outward religious privilege and mere possession or hearing of the law give no excuse for disobedience, because it is doers of the law, not hearers, who will be justified. True standing as a Jew is inward, with circumcision of the heart in the spirit and not in the letter, whose approval is from God and not from people.

Those who profess to be circumcised but do not practice the truth are uncircumcised in practice. They have nominally accepted Bible truth with every privilege of knowing it, yet have not brought it into the inner sanctuary of the soul, have refused to put on the robe of Christ's righteousness, and walk with the uncircumcised in covetousness. They come to the wedding supper without the wedding garment, which is the righteousness of Christ, and will be destroyed together with the uncircumcised, spared no more than the very worst sinner.

No human can read the heart, and since God shows no partiality but will judge the secrets of all people through Jesus Christ, a brother who is found fault with and criticized may actually be more righteous in God's sight. Therefore, especially amid the perils of the last days, Israel must not be numbered nor ministering brethren measured by human standards. Great care must be taken in how a brother is measured and judged, so that no occasion of stumbling is put in his way, with hasty temper and self crucified and put away, and with cleanness required of those who bear the vessels of the Lord.
