Their feet are swift to shed blood belongs to God's portrayal of the condition existing in the world and the church today. It stands together with its surrounding description of universal unrighteousness, with none understanding or seeking God, with all gone out of the way and become unprofitable, with deceitful speech and mouths full of cursing and bitterness, with destruction and misery in their ways, with ignorance of the way of peace, and with no fear of God before their eyes, revealing a terrible moral state marked by readiness to shed blood. This terrible condition has been brought about by making void the law of God. The voiding happens when those entrusted with the oracles of God break the law themselves and teach others who would investigate and obey the light to do the same, deceiving the people as the leaders in Israel did in Christ's day, while Satan interposes his hellish shadow between Christ as the light of the world and the souls He came to save.
